I’m posting this from this past Tuesday because I don’t want to ruin the surprise for my friend Sana this weekend! I’m probably at the party now! We wanted to throw a great party for her 28th birthday this weekend and I am in charge of the decorations to go with the color theme of teal and red/coral. I found my way to the hobby lobby bottles section, the scrap booking section, the sewing section and finally the wedding aisle and came up with these on the fly yesterday. I also bought some flowers to mock-up how it’d look. There will be two whole centerpieces and some more clear glass with colored sixlets but I didn’t want to open those.
Do you know how much I love stickers? OMG I love stickers.
The left bit is a little off kilter because I was using a mounted painters canvas to stage. I discovered I literally have nothing white in the house that could be used for staging. Literally. I’ll probably change that these coming days since I love to practice. :-)
This weekend I spent some time with my best girlfriends and had a girls day out. We stopped at Joy Cafe, a small buckhead eatery where we enjoyed some good american fare and a quaint setting. The butterfly display inspired me and I am having some dried butterflies shipped to me for a home art project. :) If you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to eat at Joy Cafe!
I don’t usually post my decor choices online but this weekend I picked up a large wall sconce and I love it. It’s been well designed. In daylight it’s a pretty mosaic but when lit up at night it produces beautiful shadows.
I wish they’d put a light on the smallest one but I’m happy with the piece nonetheless.
Believe it or not I actually got a little crafty today. Like, emulated some decor I liked from pictures on the internet. Yeah I know. The world has ended. Also I bought cupcake sprinkles. I don’t even own a baking pan. Or have ever baked anything. Ever. That’ll be another story one day, I hope.
Here’s my little attempt at sprucing up my coffee table decor a little.
Here are the ideas I pulled from and was trying to mimic:
My specific ingredients were river pebbles ($1 / bag. Dollar Store) , some air plants ($2.99/ea Whole Foods Market ) Glass Jar ($5.99 after 40% off coupon) :
I tossed in the rocks, tore the air plants from the moss they were glued into, and set those aside. I stuffed the moss between the rocks and then arranged the air plants.
I tried it with and without the lid. I like it without the lid better but sometimes, I like it with the lid. I have the option to have it like I want whenever I feel like it.
So that’s that. My own little pseudo-prehistoric terrarium-esque decor piece. :) It was fun and easy.
