Guest Bedroom

I’ve tackled my guest bedroom in my head for a while now.  My first plan was to turn it into a lounge but my living room is a large lounge environment already and I really would like to have guests sleep over in an awesome room.

My own bedroom is a mix of dark leather,  very dark walnut floors and white and cream bedding. The walls are a medium-light gray.  I chose a lighter coat of gray for the guest bedroom (after painting this awful candy blue!) and wanted to merge a copper sulfate and gray theme to it.  This is kinda where I am. I dug it up from my Olioboards that have sat there for weeks.

I’m not a fan of in-your-face furniture so wild animal prints or old clunky furniture isn’t going to work for me. I do enjoy furs,  with maybe one or two shades in it and I like antiques, but not super-traditional looking pieces. I like plush, comfortable, visually pleasing environments. If there’s color, it must pull gently at the eyes and be of some pleasant, vague subject matter.  I realized this about myself when I didn’t put up any photos of any people in my house.  I might one day, but they’d be incorporated as art. I’m not sure I’ll ever see the day typical black and white or color faces are plastered on the walls in black frames.  I like it when people are in my house, not on my walls. I know, I’m weird.

The salvation army near my house has fantastic furniture.  For this room, the bed, the rug, the flooring and some of the pillows have been bought. I still need lighting, shelving and art pieces. I’ll probably just make my art since I have a huge archive of fine-art quality photography.  I felt weird about hanging up my art on the walls but after talking to a few friends & family it apparently doesn’t come across as narcissistic as I had anticipated.

Anyway. I’m going to get started on this project for real now.   What do you think of my board? More color? Got an accessory that’ll go perfect?
Also… anyone want to help me move the bed up two flights of stairs from my 1st to my 3rd? hehehe…!

Yes, the room must reflect you. The choice of colors is good. Your walls are grey so perhaps you should leave out grey in your furniture and accessories. You could bring a metallic color into the combination. Bronze maybe?

I was thinking a third color would help the room not feel drab. What about coral?
