The Naples zoo had some poison dart frogs. This one managed to grab ahold of the slick surfaces of the containment chamber he was in.

I attempted to do something of a painterly look with this without destroying the photo feel.

Glitter

A second water-drop photo taken using just water, some glitter and a pheasant’s feather.

Now that I’m looking through these I remember how much fun I had taking experimental photos like this. I should start up again!

Twenty Five

This is an image from when I was obsessed with water drops. Okay… things haven’t changed, but I actually shipped pheasant feathers from England to shoot this series back in 2008. It’s still one of my favorite works.

On a side note, I turned 25 today. I am so excited to be 25. Every year after I turned 20 has been awesomer than the last. If it keeps going like this I’m pretty much set.

So… I only went starfish hunting in my earlier picture because this awesome kid showed me how. Those are his parents in the back.

I promised his parents that I would send them this picture… then I dropped my phone in the ocean. So… I guess I won’t be keeping that promise. They were foreigners so… unless by some odd chance one of you recognizes them it will be a moment lost in a stranger’s camera.

On Key Largo is a local seafood restaurant that really loves its hanging lights. The entire ceiling is adorned with the little shapes, all sea themed.

Starfish

So if you can wish upon a star, can you wish upon a starfish? It certainly rolls off the tongue better.

I dunno, it was extra magical for me since I’d never caught a starfish before. It didn’t give us any good luck though. Maybe even some bad luck considering what happened after this little hunting expedition. Photo taken by my good friend Sana.

The fishermen in Naples all head home right at Sunset. I wonder if they even notice the giant canvas of awesome behind them as they zoom by.

If you remember my angry tweet about the waiters not speaking english properly, it was about this place. I like the way it was decorated and the food was ok. I just get frustrated when I can’t communicate anything to the person taking my food order.

Naples Sunset

We took a sunset cruise and the sunsets out there in the gulf are spectacular.

I have the Florida itch and it’s only been a week and a half since I left! I should find myself back there in November though!
