Airborne

One of my favorite things about travel is the takeoff and landing. There’s something magical about experiencing everyday landscapes from the air. It’s also a great time to practice some iphone shooting and editing. Everything in this post was shot on an iPhone 6s and edited with VSCO.

Letting my eyes flit over the seemingly miniature rows of cars and tiny swooping highways near the airport evokes a pleasant feeling in my chest.

Taxing on the runway comes with an anticipation that’s just a little bit like an adrenaline rush. The moments before takeoff as the plane accelerates has me wide-eyed like a child, staring at the whizzing by.

And then finally we’re airborne and the clouds are thin enough to display the earth below, mottled and changed by its human inhabitants.

We flew over the Florida Everglades back in October. It falls in my top 10 favorite places I’ve flown over. It’s like the earth has stretch marks.

To belong to an economic class and time period where I can enjoy flight is a blessing.

In DC, I was treated to a fall time display of fall colors shrouded by low hanging fog.

I just love everything about being in the air!
