80’s Movie Classics Marathon

So I just totally bought these three movies on Blu-ray. Now, to understand what I big deal this is, you have to know that I have never bought a DVD in my life. Rented from redbox or blockbuster, sure, but I’ve never spent the $$ to start any sort of video collection. However, this year I got a Playstation 3 for Christmas and I can play Blu-Ray’s on my big screen.    I rented my first Blu-Ray last week when I had a few friends over to watch Repo Men.  IT WAS AWESOME.

So. I feel like I can finally start collecting a reasonably sized library of videos that I know have some replay value (on sale of course).

My first purchases were the above three. I’m curious to know how detailed they’re going to be since I’ve only ever seen them at VHS quality but I have so many friends who appreciate these three movies that I felt it a worthy investment for those nights where you just want to throw on an old memory.

If you want in on the action, they’re each under 10 for now each on  Amazon. I got all three for $27 dollars.  Happy watching!

I just discovered your blog and your writing and photography are wonderful. I’m reading a bunch of older posts so this isn’t the most timely of comments. These movies are great! How did you enjoy re-watching them on DVD? I hope when I have kids that they will love these movies too and not scoff at how old and non-CGI they are. Puppetry at its finest.
    Congratulations on your engagement!

I really enjoyed The Dark Crystal again but when I watched The Labyrinth and The Never Ending Story, I was a little disappointed by the shallow story lines and logic gaps. Clearly these don’t matter to a child though so I’m hoping all my future children can appreciate these too. :)
