Weíre up in Tennessee for the three day weekend. I just had to share this shot taken at a Parrot rescue up here. These two love birds held hands and groomed each other!
The rescue had an amazing assortment of parrots.
This one really caught my eye.
A couple of them were kind of quirky. :) The Cockatoo said ‘ I love you’ and his friend would compete by saying it louder.
This is expected from rescues. :-)
At the end a macaw bit me in the nursery until I bled because I wouldnít give him my bangles. Bratty baby parrot!
He spent the week at my parentís house.¬† I complain about him a lot since he messes up my stuff but I missed him a lot this whole week.
Iím also trying out a new wordpress theme I bought from Graph Paper Press. It lets me display my large images (and of course linking to even larger!) and I love it! Thanks Graph Paper Press! I always hated sidebars anyway!!
Iíve been attending this social event / art class for almost a year now run by a company called ĎSips n Strokesí. They have two locations in Atlanta (Dunwoody & East Cobb), and a third opening soon in Buckhead! My friends, co-workers and I are regulars. There are usually 30+ people and we all have a good time.
The premise is that you bring yourself, some wine/beer/alcohol and snacks and receive art instruction while having a great time with your buds. I highly recommend it. It takes about 2 hours, costs about $25-$35 and all supplies needed are included in the price tag.
In general, the medium is acrylic but the methods include paintbrush, palette knife and paper towel painting. You can also pick your own colors when doing the artwork so you can actually hang it up later.
Last nightís example was this :
You can see it in all itís watermarked glory. I pretty much hate bright colors so I chose a different palette.
The one the instructor did was pretty much the same, even brighter almost since she loved the blues and teals and I .. well.. am not a blue/teal kinda gal.
Yeah.. definitely not the same. But it actually goes with my house. :] Iíve learned over the few times Iíve been there that it’s definitely okay to step outside the box some with the techniques theyíre teaching you.
Anyway, itís absolutely fun and Iím always looking for more painting partners, trios or gangs. Check them out at sipsnstrokes.com and follow them on twitter. Iím sure this is not the last post about my painterrific adventures. :]
